The liquid ring vacuum pump is eccentrically installed in the pump casing with a multi-blade rotor. When it rotates, it throws the liquid to the pump casing and forms a liquid ring concentric with the pump casing. The liquid ring and the rotor blades form a rotary variable volume vacuum pump with periodic volume change. When the working liquid is water, it is called a water ring vacuum pump.
